From The Desk of Brother Scribe

03/2013

I would like to start off by congratulating our 1st brother of the month, Adam Simon. Throughout the month of january, Adam supported brothers through athletics, rush, tailgating, and just being a good brother; all while being a D1 athlete. Now as we mark the half way mark of February, we can tell that this month is going to be the busiest month the Phi Alpha chapter has ever seen. We started the month off by having 25 of our brothers along with brothers from the Phi Iota chapter at FIU travel to University of South Carolina for the Southern Regional conclave. This weekend long trip brought us closer as a brotherhood, taught us more about AEPi leadership positions, and we met over 400 other brothers of AEPi from around the southern region. After the 11 hour bus ride back, our brothers immediately got back to work with preparation of our biggest event of the semester, AEPi Princess. AEPi Princess is our annual spring philanthropy ran by our philanthropy chairman, Justin Gitterman, where all of the proceeds go to one of our seven philanthropies, Sharsheret. We would like to wish our following contestants the best of luck: Alex Sikora, sister of Alpha Delta Pi, Jesse Mackles, sister of Theta Phi Alpha, Brianna Cook, sister of Sigma Kappa, McKenzie Miller, sister of Delta Phi Epsilon, and Danielle Klaristenfeld, sister of Alpha Xi Delta. In other news, I would like to give a shout out to our Greek Week Chairman, Jason Gothelf, for organizing and planning our part for Greek Week, along with motivating the brothers to participate. All of the brothers look forward to future practicing and taking home that 1st place trophy with the men of Alpha Tau Omega and the women of Alpha Delta Pi!

As we wrap up the first month of the 2013 spring semester, we would like to reflect upon the accomplishments and the obstacles we have overcome in these passed two weeks. Despite the small turnout for spring rush in the greek community our Rush Chairman, Sam Goldberg, along with his committee came out on top to induct 5 new members as pledges of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity. We would like to congratulate Zach Anderson, Bennett Deutsch, Ron Goldstein, Ian Picard, and Jordan Epstein for accepting their bids and becoming pledges of our fraternity. Also, as we begin to roll into February, we are preparing our annual event, AEPi Princess, which will be including the long waited Jews & Q's event with the men of Omega Psi Phi! Tabeling will begin soon and we are looking forward to the crowning of the new AEPi Princess. Along with planning for that event, we are also beginning Greek Week practice; Which we are more than ready to take home the 1st place trophy with the gentlemen of Alpha Tau Omega & the lovely ladies of Alpha Delta Pi! As we conclude what was a very productive month for our chapter, we will start packing in the next few days as we will be traveling to University of South Carolina for our Southern Regional Conclave with the AEPi chapter at Florida International University.

01/2013

A new year means a new beginning. A new beginning for Alpha Epsilon Pi here at FAU as we meet new people, achieve bigger & better goals, and learn more about what it means to be the ONLY Jewish Fraternity. In our 1st two weeks into the 2013 spring semester, our focuses have been mainly on rush, which is about 2 weeks away, but we have still achieved much in these past 14 days. In our 1st community service project, our civics chair, Adam Simon, rallied up 20 other brothers to assist our local JCC, and we were awarded 120 community hours. We also had our brother, Jack Whidden, working with Jesse Mackles, sister of Theta Phi Alpha, to put together our 1st social with Theta Phi Alpha and Triangle Fraternity. The social was at Boomers, and was an amazing experience to mark the start of a great, upcoming semester.
